Box Score Jackson, Mississippi - The Tiger football team made its first road trip of the season, falling to Millsaps College in a narrow 24-20 defeat on Saturday afternoon.
GAME SUMMARY
Neither team scored in the first quarter of play, but Millsaps scored 10 quick points early in the second. After a field goal early in the quarter, the Majors recovered an onside kick that led to the second score.
After a Trinity field goal put the Tigers on the board, the Majors answered with another touchdown to go ahead 17-3.
Trinity added 10 points in the final 6:11 of the first half - including a 33-yard field goal with 12 seconds left - and Millsaps led 17-13 at the break.
The go-ahead touchdown for the Tigers came at the end of the third quarter, and put Trinity in front for the first time in the game (20-17).
Millsaps went 57 yards in seven plays for the game-winning drive, taking a 24-20 lead in what would be the final score of the game.
HIGHLIGHTS
After falling behind 17-3 in the first half, Trinity scored 17 unanswered points to take a 20-17 lead late in the third quarter.
Austin Grauer completed 20-31 passes for 210 yards and one touchdown.
Evan McDowell rushed 20 times for 85 yards and a touchdown, marking his second straight game with a score.
Rhodes Legg snagged four passes for 55 yards and touchdown. Cody Sandman caught four passes for 48 yards, and Tommy Lavine had six receptions for 39 yards.
Colby Doyal was 2-2 in field goals, connecting from 41 and 33 yards.
Luke Packard led the game with 12 tackles, along with 2.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for a loss.
NOTABLES
Millsaps now leads the series 21-17.
The Majors won the last outing 27-24 in 2013. The Tigers were 35-24 winners over the Majors in the 2012 season.
Trinity's defense allowed just 54 total yards of offense in the first and third quarters - including four drives for negative yardage.
