Box Score Seguin, Texas - The Trinity women's golf team shot a final-round 312 on Tuesday to take second place at the Lady Bulldog Fall Classic at Starcke Park Municipal Course.
TOURNAMENT SUMMARY
The Tigers surged to second place after finishing third in Monday's opening round of the Texas Lutheran University-hosted tournament.
Trinity finished with a 622 total, just two strokes behind the team competition winner, the University of Texas-Tyler. The Tigers second-round score of 312 was one stroke behind the Patriots.
Shelby DeVore shot a final-round 1-over 73 to finish in a three-way tie for the runner-up position. DeVore improved her mark by five strokes, and came in at 7-over 151. She started the event Monday in a tie for 11th place. Lauren Leslie of Schreiner University was the winner, by one stroke, at 150.
Taylor Moser carded a 78 for the second straight day, and tied for eighth place, at 156. Christine Campbell and Lauren Pettinati tied for the #11 slot with 157s. Campbell shot an 81, and Pettinati, playing as an individual, lowered her score by seven strokes with a 75.
Hanna Niner shot 80, for a 158, and ended in a tie for 14th place. Emilee Strausburg tied for 25th after shooting 83, for a tournament 163. Individual competitor Rebecca Derby shot an 89 (175 total) for a tie for 50th place.
NOTABLES
Trinity finished ahead of 12 teams, including third-place participant Schreiner. The Mountaineers came in seven strokes behind the Tigers. Fourth-place University of Mary Hardin-Baylor was 11 strokes behind the Trinity team at the tournament's finish.
Six Tiger golfers finished in the top-25 standings, and and five were in the leading 15 positions.
