Box Score Colorado Springs, Colorado - The Trinity men's basketball team opened up a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road weekend with a 63-74 loss at Colorado College on Friday night.
GAME SUMMARY
Colorado opened the game by scoring eight of the first 10 points, as well as sprinting to a 30-8 advantage less than 11 minutes into the contest. Trinity was able to cut the lead in half by intermission, and trailed 38-27 at the break.
Trailing 44-34 early in the second half, Trinity scored eight unanswered points to get within two, but Colorado rallied with a 10-1 run of its own to push the lead back to double digits with 11:10 remaining in the game.
Trinity could get no closer than eight points after that, as the two teams both scored 36 points in the second period.
Colorado College was on fire all night, hitting 55% or better in each half. The host team also connected on 10-18 (55.6%) from three-point range, while Trinity made just 2-10 from distance.
Trinity was held under 40% shooting in the game overall, but did hit 19-24 (79.2%) from the free throw line.
NOTABLES
Trinity lost its second consecutive game, falling to 7-9 overall and 2-3 in SCAC play. Colorado College remained atop the conference standings with a 6-0 league mark, and a 7-10 overall record.
Aaron Knopp led two Tiger players in double figures with 13 points, connecting on 5-8 from the field. It marks the fifth double-digit scoring game of the year for Knopp.
Brooks Mays was the only other Trinity player to reach double figures, hitting 5-12 from the floor on his way to 11 points.
Karthik Reddy came off the bench with five points and a team-best five rebounds in just 15 minutes of action. Nik Oakes led Trinity's subs with nine points, hitting 2-2 from the field and 4-4 from the foul line - as well as his only three-point attempt.
