Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity volleyball team has moved to fifth in the nation by the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Poll.
Led by 33rd-year head coach Julie Jenkins, Trinity stands at 20-5 overall and 8-2 in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Tigers dropped just slightly in this week's ranking, after being third for each of the past two polls.
In the course of last week, Trinity sported a 2-2 record. The Tigers lost a 3-2 battle to NCAA Division II member St. Mary's (TX) University. Trinity then hosted the SCAC Divisional Tournament, going 2-1 at the event held in Calgaard Gymnasium. The Tigers began the tournament with a 3-1 victory over Texas Lutheran University, followed by a tight 3-2 loss to Southwestern (TX) University - ranked fifth at the time. The tournament ended with the Trinity's 3-0 sweep of Schreiner (TX) University.
This Saturday and Sunday, the Tigers will compete in the final SCAC Divisional Tournament of the season, located in Shreveport, Louisiana. Trinity plays host Centenary (LA) College and second-ranked Colorado College on Saturday. Sunday's schedule has the Tigers taking on Austin (TX) College and the University of Dallas (TX).
