#6 Women's Soccer Opens SCAC Play With Shutout Win

San Antonio - The sixth-ranked Trinity women's soccer team opened its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference slate with a 6-0 shutout of the University of Dallas (TX) Friday night.

 

MATCH SUMMARY

Chelsea Cole scored the first of her three goals on the night in the 24th minute, assisted by Meredith Licata

Licata knocked in a goal of her own just a few minutes later, with Colleen Markey supplying the assist.

Hannah Booher's corner kick started the next scoring play, as Cole headed the ball back to the near post, and Halleanne Dure finished to make it a 3-0 Tiger lead.

Cole's second goal of the night came on Booher's second assist of the game, and Trinity took a 4-0 lead into halftime.

After Julia Camp assisted Cole for her third goal of the night, Camp finished off the scoring with a goal of her own in the 71st minute.

Trinity held an astounding 40-3 advantage in total shots, including 23 shots on goal.

 

NOTABLES

Trinity posted its fourth straight shutout to improve to 5-1-0, while the Crusaders dropped to 1-4-1 overall.  Both teams played their first SCAC contests of the season

The Tigers tied a season-high in goals scored.

After her first career hat trick, Chelsea Cole now leads the Tigers with five goals in her column this season.

The hat trick also marks the ninth consecutive season that at least one Trinity women's soccer player has scored a hat trick in a season.  The last time the Tigers failed to do so was in 2008.

Julia Camp registered her second scoring play of the campaign, and 34th in her career. Camp is now tied for 16th place on Trinity's scoring list.

Colleen Markey has three assists this season, and is tied for 14th place in the career section with 23 to her credit.

Halleanne Dure scored her fourth goal this year, and the 18th of her career.

 

UP NEXT

The Tigers continue their SCAC slate next weekend on the road against Texas Lutheran University on Friday, followed by a matchup with Southwestern (TX) University on Sunday, September 24.
