Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity volleyball team continued its rise in the national rankings and now stands fifth in the latest Division III poll by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
The Tigers (10-2) were ranked 14th in the AVCA preseason poll last month, then moved to 10th after the opening week, and up to seventh following last week's ranking.
Led by 33rd-year Head Coach Julie Jenkins, the Tigers went 4-0 at their Trinity Fall Classic last weekend. The home team claimed victories over Hardin-Simmons (TX) University, 11th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Pomona-Pitzer (CA) Colleges, and East Texas Baptist University.
Trinity has chalked up five wins over nationally ranked teams this season: sixth-ranked California Lutheran University (two victories), #9 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CA) Colleges, 23rd-ranked University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and the recent decision over Wisconsin-Whitewater.
This weekend, the Tigers will compete in their first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Divisional of the campaign, to be held in Georgetown, Texas. First up is a Friday showdown with the host and second-ranked Southwestern University. Saturday's schedule has Trinity playing Texas Lutheran University and Schreiner (TX) University.
