#7 Trinity Baseball Beats NAIA's Our Lady of the Lake

Box Score

San Antonio – Trinity's seventh-ranked baseball team earned a 4-2 road win over Our Lady of the Lake (TX) University on Tuesday night.

GAME SUMMARY

Trinity got on the board with a run in the top of the first, but the Tigers missed a chance for a big inning after leaving the bases loaded.

The Tigers added another run with a two-out rally in the second. Logan Morrison drew a walk with two outs, followed by Jake Martin's RBI double to make it a 2-0 Trinity lead.

Brendan Meyer took full advantage of the lead by striking out eight batters in the first four innings, including striking out the side in both the second and fourth.

Our Lady of the Lake did manage to sneak across an unearned run in the third, though, and Trinity was clinging to a 2-1 lead after four.

In the fifth, John Tucker and Blake Frampton both cracked RBI triples to make it a 4-1 Tiger advantage. Meyer then struck out the side in the sixth to reach 12 strikeouts in the game.

The Saints chased Meyer from the game after an error and a single to start the seventh, scoring their second run of the game with an RBI groundout to first base.

Trinity's offense was held to just one hit over the final three innings, but Tiger relievers Corey Cater and Holden Nix were able to limit OLLU to just the one run in the seventh inning.

A single and a one-out walk in the ninth put the tying run aboard, but Nix came in to close the game with two strikeouts for a Tiger victory.
