Box Score San Antonio - Trinity junior setter Katrina Lieberman has been tabbed as the first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week of the new season.
Lieberman sparked the then-11th-ranked Tigers to four victories at their Trinity National Invitational last weekend. Trinity defeated seventh-ranked Gustavus Adolphus (MN) College, #30 Aurora (IL) University, Cabrini (PA) University, and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
In the four tournament matches Lieberman posted 161 assists with 51 against Aurora. Lieberman also recorded 42 digs, 18 kills, and four blocks in the matchups. She had double-double matches against Gustavus Adolphus, Stevens Point, and Aurora, and earned All-Tournament accolades.
The 4-0 record against formidable teams catapulted Trinity to a #5 ranking Tuesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division III Poll. The Tigers played their Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) opener against Schreiner (TX) University Tuesday night in Kerrville, Texas.
The Tigers will host the Trinity Fall Classic this Friday and Saturday. Up first at 3:00 p.m. Friday will be the University of La Verne (CA), which received votes in the AVCA Poll.
