Box Score San Antonio - The sixth-seeded Trinity volleyball team returns to the NCAA Division III Elite Eight, and the Tigers will take on third-seeded and last year's runner-up Calvin (MI) College at 8:00 p.m. (CT) on Thursday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The eight-team Championship Tournament will be held at the U.S. Cellular Center. The Trinity/Calvin winner advances to Friday's Semifinals at 7:30 p.m., facing the winner of second-seeded Johns Hopkins (MD) University and #7 seed College of Saint Benedict (MN).
The NCAA Championship match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Defending champion and top-seeded Emory (GA) University plays #8 seed Clarkson (NY) University, and #4 seed Carthage (WI) College is paired with fifth-seeded Bowdoin (ME) College in the other Quarterfinals matchups.
Led by 35th-year Head Coach Julie Jenkins, the Tigers have won 22 matches in a row and are sporting a 36-4 record. After claiming their 19th overall Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) title with a victory over Colorado College, the Tigers earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Playoffs.
Trinity traveled to Newport News, Virginia, and opened its 25th NCAA postseason event with a win over Hunter (NY) College. Juniata (PA) College fell to the Tigers in the Regional Semifinals, and a victory over Marymount (VA) University propelled Trinity to the Elite Eight for the sixth time in the program. The Tigers last captured the Regional Championship in 2009 and are making their sixth overall appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Coach Jenkins also guided the team to an NCAA runner-up finish in 1999, and to a Third-Place performance in 2002.
