Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity men's basketball team will be the sixth seed at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament February 22-24 at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas.
The Tigers completed their regular season with a 68-55 home conference victory last Saturday over the University of Dallas (TX). Trinity now stands at 6-19 and 6-10 in SCAC competition.
Trinity will take on third-seeded Centenary (LA) College in the quarterfinals at 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 22. The winner advances to the semifinals at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23 against second-seeded Texas Lutheran. The championship game is slated for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 24 with the winner guaranteed an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
Fourth-seeded Schreiner meets #5 University of Dallas in the other opening-round game. The winner takes on top seed Southwestern in the semifinals.
Last season, the Tigers defeated host Colorado College in the quarterfinals of the SCAC Tournament. Trinity then lost a hard-fought semifinals matchup to top seed Schreiner.
Led by 20th-year Head Coach Pat Cunningham, the Tigers have won seven SCAC Championships, including three in a row from 2012-2014.
