Trinity Men's Soccer Blanks Texas Lutheran in Milestone Game

San Antonio – Trinity Head Coach Paul McGinlay won his 500th career game as the Tiger men's soccer team earned a 4-0 shutout over Texas Lutheran University on Friday night.

MATCH SUMMARY

Both teams were still settling into the game when Trinity's Jacob Galan collected a pass 30-35 yards from goal, eluded a defender, and rifled a shot past the Texas Lutheran defense for a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute.

In the 23rd minute, Jacob Hallenberger took a cross just outside the six-yard box, hopped over the challenge from the defender, and lofted a left-footed shot over the keeper and into the net for a 2-0 Tiger lead.

In the 72nd minute, Philip Duenez was fighting in the box to knock in another goal, but Texas Lutheran was able to keep him from getting off a good shot. The loose ball wound up at the feet of Andrea Codispoti, who buried it for another Tiger goal.

Just over a minute later, a Texas Lutheran foul put Fraser Burns over the ball for a free kick near the corner of the field. He bent his shot towards the goal and off the fingertips of the goalie for the final score of the game.

Trinity out-shot Texas Lutheran 22-7 overall in the game, holding the Bulldogs to just two shots after halftime.
