Andrea Codispoti Chosen as SCAC Player of the Week

San Antonio - Trinity junior Andrea Codispoti has received the honor of being named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.

The Tiger midfielder paced Trinity to a pair of home victories last week. The Tigers first blanked Texas Lutheran University 4-0 and then edged Southwestern (TX) University 2-1 in a pair of non-conference matchups.

Codispoti scored three goals over the two weekend games, starting with a scoring play in the 72nd minute against Texas Lutheran. In the battle with Southwestern, Codispoti opened the scoring in the fourth minute of action. After the Pirates evened the score in the 18th minute, Codispoti later fired in the game-winner with just over five minutes to play in the game. He recorded his first multi-goal game of the season and the second of his career.

This season, Codispoti leads the Tigers with five goals and two game-winning goals in his column.

Trinity has now won three games in a row and improved to 4-2-2 on the year.  The shutout of Texas Lutheran marked the 500th career victory for Head Coach Paul McGinlay. His milestone win was the fastest in NCAA history to 500 victories.

The Tigers will host Schreiner (TX) University at 8:00 p.m. Friday in an SCAC game during the University's Alumni Weekend.
