San Antonio - Trinity men's and women's teams lead the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Swimming & Diving Championships after Wednesday's opening day at Josh Davis Natatorium.
HIGHLIGHTS
The defending champion Tiger women scored 110 points and lead second-place Southwestern (TX) University by eight points.
Trinity's men, last year's runners-up, posted 116 points and have a 20-point lead over second-place Southwestern.
The women's quartet of Morgen Reyna, Meghan Magill, Libby Goode, and Mabel Fowler won the 800-yard freestyle relay with a SCAC-record time of 7:36.27.
The mark is also a Trinity record and an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time.
Trinity's men captured the 800-yard freestyle relay with a Davis Natatorium-record time of 6:48.46. Beau Tipton, Daniel Sarman, Eric Grace, and Grayden Nelson swam the event one second off the school record.
The 200-yard medley relay title went to the Trinity's men's team of Matt Lanzara, Spencer Steward, Ben Adams, and Shamzi Alkaff who registered a time of 1:32.82.
Fowler, Caroline North, Star Rosales, and Reyna were runners-up in the women's 200-yard medley relay, clocking in at 1:48:40.
Trinity also won "B" Finals, or ninth place, in the four relay races.
Lara Case, Jadyn Trahan, Caroline Westholder, and Elizabeth Nelson took ninth in the women's 200-yard medley relay. Rosales, Westholder, Anabelle Conde, and Nelson were the "B" winners of the 800-yard freestyle relay.
The men's 200-yard medley "B" title went to Sarman, Elliott Fleming, Tipton, and Leon Faulk. Lanzara, James Warren, Daniel Seabolt, and Eamon Morris took ninth in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

Day two of the four-day meet starts Thursday with swimming preliminaries at 10:30 a.m. The swimming finals are slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
