Box Score San Antonio - The Trinity women's swimming & diving team has been ranked 25th by the latest College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division III Top-25 Dual Meet Poll.
Mabel Fowler holds high women's national rankings in a number of events. Fowler is ranked #1 in the NCAA Division III in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 10:14.97. She is eighth in the 1,650 freestyle (17:10.11) and the 200 backstroke (2:01.76), along with a #9 ranking in the 500 freestyle (4:48.81). The 1,650 free, 200 back, and 500 free results are all NCAA Division III Championship provisional times.
Fowler and teammates Star Rosales, Elizabeth Nelson, and Morgen Reyna have combined for impressive relay rankings. The quartet is ninth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:29.20) and 14th in the 200 free relay (1:35.82), which are both NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
On the Tiger men's team, Beau Tipton stands at #6 in the 200 butterfly, posting an NCAA provisional time of 1:48.54.
Four Trinity divers have qualified for the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championships. Katarina Partalas, Maren Merwarth, and Mya Tio will represent the women's team, while Anthony Liva goes forward from the men's squad. The event will be held February 28-29 at Trinity's Hixon Natatorium.
Both teams are preparing for next week's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Swimming & Diving Championships February 12-15 at San Antonio's Josh Davis Natatorium. The Tiger women won the SCAC Championship last year for the 16th consecutive time and the 19th overall. Trinity's men finished as runner-up, breaking their seven-championship win streak.
