Full Release (AVCA)
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
Monday's selection is the fourth time the Tigers have earned the Team Academic Excellence award. Trinity Volleyball first earned the honor following the 2008-09 season, then in back-to-back years in 2013 and 2014.
The Tigers earned the AVCA/USMC recognition on the heels of one of their most successful campaigns in 2019. With a 37-5 overall record and a 17-1 mark in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), Trinity captured its 19th overall SCAC title and made its 25th NCAA postseason appearance. Trinity finished third at the NCAA Tournament for the second time in program history, and the first since 2002.
