SHREVEPORT, La. - Head Coach Julie Jenkins of No. 3 Trinity University Volleyball became just third coach in NCAA Division III history to reach 1,000 victories Friday night following the team's sweep of weekend host Centenary College in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Tigers (15-1, 5-0 SCAC) have won nine consecutive matches, including all of their first five in SCAC competition.

Senior rightside hitter Sara Flynn (Seattle, Wash. / Roosevelt) set, and then re-set, a career-high in kills after she logged 13 kills against Austin College in the day's opener before she posted 15 more against Centenary.

Game One: Trinity 3, Austin College 0

The Kangaroos entered the morning's match as the only other SCAC team to have started the conference schedule undefeated with a record of 11-1 (2-0 SCAC).

Flynn marked her then-career-high 13 kills on just 18 attempts (.667), the sixth time in her tenure to reach double-digits in the category.

Sophomore middle blocker Maddie Fate (Croton on Hudson, N.Y. / Croton Harmon) recorded a career-high seven blocks in the weekend's opening contest, which more than doubled her previous of mark of three blocks, a plateau she achieved twice during the 2021 spring season.

With scoring from both the middle and right side, senior outside hitters Avery Tuggle (Cedar Creek, Texas / Cedar Creek) and Annie Rose Leggett (Austin, Texas / Westwood) locked down the Tigers' back row efforts with 13 and 12 digs, respectively.

Game Two: Trinity 3, Centenary College 0

Jenkins's 1,000th career victory came on a ferocious follow-up performance for Flynn who saw her 13 kills from the early match and raised it to 15, and did so on another blistering attack clip (.545).

Thirteen different Tigers made an appearance in the contest, which conrtibuted to a widespread distribution across the box score. Fate and Leggett each contributed six kills behind Flynn, on attack rates of .455 and .312, respectively.

Leggett led the defensive end with eight digs as six different Tigers logged at least five in the category. Junior middle blocker Brette Thornton (Rockwall, Texas / Rockwall) supplied a pair of blocks in the victory.

Numbers to Note

Flynn's combined 28 kills were collected on a .600 hitting percentage. She added a pair of blocks on the day to average a clean five points per set Friday.

Junior setter Marisa Amarino (Calabasas, Calif. / Notre Dame) was the signal-caller on duty for the majority of Flynn's rotations Friday which led to an even 30 assists on the day, 19 in the Austin College match. Senior setter Alexis Acevedo (San Antonio, Texas / Incarnate Word) led the day overall after posting 15 and 16 assists, respectively, to narrowly edge Amarino's total.

Jenkins' 1,000 victories continues to lead all active coaches in NCAA III and is fifth amongst active coaches at all levels of NCAA Volleyball.
