GEORGETOWN, Texas - Tigers Men's Soccer improves to (11-0-0, 3-0-0 SCAC) after defeating Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Southwestern University by a score of 5-2. The Tigers poured in three second half goals after going into halftime tied 2-2. SU falls to (6-2-3, 1-1-1 SCAC) after losing to the Tigers at home. 

The Rundown

Sophomore defender Jesus Veloz (Dallas, Texas / Lone Star) opened up the scoring with a goal for the Tigers in the 18th minute. About 10 minutes later, Southwestern scored a goal of their own to tie things at one a piece. 

The Pirates took a 2-1 lead in the 31st minute of the match but when it looked like the match would be in favor of SU, they made a vital mistake that let Trinity back in. In the 32nd minute, SU helped Trinity out by scoring an own-goal to tie the match at 2-2. 

The second period started with both teams being tied 2-2 but the first-year Hunter Cain (Katy, Texas / Cinco Ranch) called his own number and netted a goal to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead in the 56th minute. 

Just one minute later, senior midfielder Fraser Burns (Dalry, Scotland / Garnock Academy) scored his only goal of the evening assisted by Cain to give Trinity a 4-2 lead. 

After getting out to a comfortable 4-2 lead, the Trinity's backline was phenomenal in the second half, after giving up two first half goals, the Tigers defense shutdown many of the Pirates attacking chances. With just over four minutes left in the second half, senior defender Kyle Davis (Plano, Texas / Liberty) scored a goal assisted by junior midfielder Chen Adjei (Euless, Texas / Trinity) to ultimately lift Trinity over Southwestern by a score of 5-2.
