No. 2 Tigers Pour in Six Goals to Stifle Dallas Crusaders

Box Score

SAN ANTONIO - The No. 2 ranked men's soccer squad buried the University of Dallas with six goals in a shutout win. Trinity improved to a perfect (13-0-0, 5-0-0 SCAC) after six different Tigers found the back of the net. Dallas falls to (5-6-0, 2-4-0 SCAC) after today's loss.

One of the many Tigers that scored today was first-year striker Michael Meese (Williamsburg, Va. / Jamestown) who has now scored in all nine games he has appeared in, which happens to be the most consecutive matches with a goal scored for any men's player. The first-year put up eight shots before finally scoring that highly-anticipated goal in the 84th minute of the match to give Trinity a 5-0 lead.

First-year Hunter Cain (Katy, Texas / Cinco Ranch) has also been on fire as of late; the rookie quickly put his eighth goal of the season in the net to give his squad a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of the match off the feed from senior midfielder Fraser Burns (Dalry, Scotland / Garnock). The Tigers continued to fire at the goal throughout the first half but remained unlucky until junior midfielder Jack Downes (Sheffield, England / Queen Ethelburgas) stepped up in the 39th minute and struck a ball into the net for the Tigers second goal of the afternoon. Senior defender Jacob Galan (San Antonio, TX / Reagan) was credited with the assist.

After firin 19 shots over the first half, the Tigers continued to apply pressure in hopes of extending their lead. Burns scored his fifth goal of the season off of a feed from junior midfielder Chen Adjei (Euless, Texas / Trinity) to give TU a 3-0 lead. Senior defender Kyle Davis (Plano, Texas / Liberty) joined in on the goal parade with a strike that found the back of the net in the 79th minute of the match to extend the Tigers lead.

Meese then found the back of the net for the Tigers fifth goal of the day. Senior forward Michael Somerville (Ft. Worth, Texas / Arlington Heights) then added to the TU lead with his fifth goal of the season to help Trinity secure a 6-0 win at Paul McGinlay Field. Sophomore forward Alan McGuire (Austin, Texas / Anderson) earned his first assist of the season on the final goal of the day.
