Women's Soccer Escapes With Double-OT Win at Centenary

Shreveport, La. – The Tiger women's soccer team used nearly every available second to escape with a 1-0 double-overtime win in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action at Centenary College on Saturday afternoon.

As the final seconds ticked off the clock in a scoreless tie, Bailey Meyer (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) was able to send Trinity to victory with her goal in the 120th minute. Kaity Ward (Phoenix, Ariz. / Xavier Prep) had a late throw-in that landed at Meyer's feet in the box. Knowing that time was running out, Meyer quickly turned and fired in the game-winner with just seven seconds left.

Trinity remains undefeated in league play at 7-0-0 this season, while Centenary falls to 8-3-0 overall and 4-3-0 in conference play.

The Rundown

Trinity controlled the action throughout the game, but couldn't find the back of the net until the final tally. The Tigers led 30-5 in total shots and didn't allow a single shot past the 51st minute of play.

All four of Centenary's shots after halftime came in the first 5:33 of the second period, during which the Ladies also earned their only corner kick of the game. Trinity regained control of the game after that, but the final results still eluded them.

Ward had two on-target shots in the first overtime, nearly earning her third game-winner of the season – including her second in overtime.

Numbers to Note

Meyer's game-winner was her first career goal after 27 games as a defensive player for the Tigers.

Ward collects her third assist of the season, as well as the 19th of her career. She led the game with nine total shots, including three shots on goal.

Joey Finley (Albuquerque, N.M. / Early College Academy) recorded a pair of saves and posted her second clean sheet of the season.

Tedi Del Prete (Albuquerque, N.M. / Hope Christian) came off the bench with three total shots that included two on-target attempts, while Alex Walsh (Tulsa, Okla. / Booker T. Washington) had one shot on goal and four total attempts in the game.

Coach Speak

"Bailey is a dawg," said Head Coach Dylan Harrison. "I didn't think it was possible to be more impressed by her until she came up to eat! Woof! Woof!"
