Box Score SAN ANTONIO - The Trinity University Men's Soccer team went to battle with a solid University of Texas at Dallas squad. The Tigers improved their record to 4-0-0 after defeating the Comets 1-0.
First-year Michael Meese (Williamsburg, Va. / Jamestown) scored the game-winner in the 50th minute of the match. Messe was assisted by Hunter Cain (Katy, Texas / Cinco Ranch), the combination of first-year players have fueled the Tigers offense in all four matches.
The Rundown
Trinity's defense was all over the field in the first period. The back line sniffed out every possible opportunity and held UTD to zero shots. More impressively, the Tigers did this with just 10 players for around 25 minutes of the first period. In the 20th minute of the match, Tom Whitwell (Warwick, England / Repton School) earned his second yellow of the match which meant the Tigers were down to just 10 players for the remainder of the match. This was a big blow as Whitwell was playing stout defense for the Tigers.
The Tigers were also missing a few key players to start the match so it took a real group effort to ensure the Tigers come out with a victory. Early in the second period, Messe netted a big goal that gave Trinity a 1-0 lead. Once Trinity scored, the defense locked down the UTD attack and made it nearly impossible to get any quality shots off.
Notable Numbers
Meese has scored a goal in all four matches for the Tigers.

Carlos Vidales and the Trinity defense earn their second shutout of the season.
Trinity also sniffed out six of the Comets corner kicks.
