Box Score SAN ANTONIO - The Trinity University Men's Soccer team improved to 7-0-0 on the season after pouring in six goals to take down Colorado College in a non-conference matchup. Two big goals from JonConnor Rule (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) helped prevail the Tigers over CC.
The Rundown
The Trinity Tigers were on the prowl early as Trinity took a 1-0 lead in the second minute of the match. Rule scored on a header just inside 12 yards on a double assist from Michael Pham (Richardson, Texas / Plano East) and Fraser Burns (Dalry, Scotland / Garnock Academy). In the 16th minute of the match, Colorado College tied the match at 1-1 with a goal of their own.
With just a little over two minutes in the first half, Rule headed another ball into the net which gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead. Joseph Kuri (San Antonio, Texas / TMI Episcopal) was credited with the assist as he kicked a perfectly placed ball into the box so that only Rule could make a play. The Trinity Tigers carried that 2-1 lead into half-time.
In the 62nd minute, Jack Eubank (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham Broughton) assisted Michael Somerville (Ft. Worth, Texas / Arlington Heights) on a goal after Somerville took a long pass from sophomore forward and put the ball in net to give TU a 3-1 lead.
Michael Meese (Williamsburg, Va. / Jamestown) made a good run on a ball but the goalie stepped up to grab it, but instead of retreating, Meese charged at the goalie and blocked his kick with his back which resulted in another goal scored for the first-year. Meese has now scored in seven straight matches for the Trinity Tigers. Jack Downes (Sheffield, England / Queen Ethelburgas) got in on the fun and scored a goal in the 76th minute of the match to make the score 5-1 in favor of Trinity.
CC would eventually score a late goal to make the score 5-2 but Trinity would add one more goal with just three minutes remaining in the match. Philip Duenez (San Antonio, Texas / Stevens) scored his first goal of the season on a beautiful cross from Kyle Davis (Plano, Texas / Liberty).
