Box Score HOBOKEN, N.J. - No. 7 Trinity University Women's Soccer received its first blemish of the 2021 campaign Friday night with a scoreless draw at Stevens Institute of Technology to open its weekend affair in the Northeast United States.
The Tigers (5-0-1) slowly worked their way into rythym offensively as Trinity trailed the Ducks in shot attempts (5-2) and corner opportunities (2-1) through the first 45 minutes only to burst through with four shots on-frame and a six-to-one advantage in corners in the second period without allowing a single quality look for Stevens during that time.
The first extra period saw Trinity play primarily in its defensive third as the Ducks fired four more shots, all on goal, but to no avail as sophomore keeper Joey Finley (Albuquerque, N.M. / Early College Academy) stayed firm to preserve her first full-time shutout of the season.
The second overtime was played mostly in the midfield third to start before two chances arose on the offensive end for the Tigers. With just-under five minutes to play, senior midfielder Camryn Beall (Morrison, Colo. / Colorado Academy) notched the last shot on frame from the right corner of the 18'.
Trinity had one last quality chance in the final minute as a corner attempt from sophomore defender Kyra Stafford (Albuquerque, N.M. / Hope Christian) escaped the box which enabled a give-and-go throw-in for first-year forward Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford) who fired from several feet outside the 18' from the left corner only to be deflected.
Number to Note
Finley's first fulltime shutout included seven saves, four of which were logged in the first overtime period.
All six shots on goal for Trinity were tallied by different Tigers: Beall, Bosco, Emma Everts (Parker, Colo. / Ponderosa), Madison Horner (Austin, Texas / Bowie), Meredith McAlester (Norman, Okla. / North) and Molly Sheridan (St. Louis, Mo. / Kirkwood).
