No. 8 Women's Soccer Blanks Austin College at Home

Box Score

SAN ANTONIO - No. 8 Trinity University Women's Soccer proves to be too much in their 5-0 win over Austin College. After tonight's shutout victory, the Tigers improve to (13-0-1, 9-0 SCAC). The Tiger offense controlled the pitch all night and cruised to another shutout win. Senior forward Molly Sheridan (St. Louis, Mo. / Kirkwood) scored two goals and assisted a goal to tally five points on the night. As a reserve, rookie forward Hanna Khan (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) also tallied two goals on the evening.

The Rundown

The Tigers got off to a quick start by taking a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the match. Junior Ashlyn Zingelmann (San Antonio, Texas / Brandeis) and Sheridan found sophomore forward Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford) in space and Bosco sent a rocket into the back of the net. The Tigers took five more shots before senior Alana Wickham (Rockwall, Texas / Rockwall) dished out an assist to Sheridan for the second goal of the night. Just 17 minutes into the match, Trinity held a 2-0 lead and continued to attack the Roo's defense. The Tigers continued to dominate possession and keep the Roos on their heels. TU ended the half with 24 shots despite only having a two-goal lead. The Trinity defense made it nearly impossible for Austin to get past midfield, holding the Roos to no shots during the first half.

Just three minutes out of the half, Sheridan scored her second goal of the night to extend the Tiger lead to 3-0. In the 57th minute, Khan found the back of the net to put the Tigers up by four goals. First-year defender Clara Richards (Buffalo, NY / Williamsville South) and senior Emma Everts (Parker, Colo. / Ponderosa) teamed up to find the rookie striker for her second goal of the evening. The Tigers enjoyed a comfortable 5-0 lead for the remainder of the match. Austin was able to get one shot away but junior goalkeeper Joey Finley (Albuquerque, N.M. / Early College) made the save to preserve the shutout.

By the Numbers

The Tigers outshot Austin 47-to-1 and tallied 12 corner kicks on the night.

Bosco led the Tiger offense with six shots on the night. Khan followed with four shots on the night.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lauryn Lewis (Carrollton, TX / Creekview) and Finley combined for the shutout win in goal tonight.
