Box Score SAN ANTONIO –No. 4 Trinity University Volleyball posted its 13th unanswered victory in the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season Wednesday night with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-14) win over Schreiner University in its final home match of the regular season.
The Tigers (22-3, 13-0 SCAC) watched their senior setter Marisa Amarino (Calabasas, Calif. / Notre Dame) reach the 2,000-assist plateau in the 110th match of her career. The four-year three-rotation setter posted 20 assists in Wednesday night's contest, between just the first two sets.
Seniors middle blocker Emily Ellis (Georgetown, Texas / Georgetown) and rightside Sara Flynn (Seattle, Wash. / Roosevelt) each landed in double figures in kills to lead Trinity on the night, both with hitting percentages well-over the .600 mark thanks to error-free performances. Ellis led the way with 13 kills on 19 attempts (.684), followed by Flynn's 10-of-15 (.667) line.
Ellis notched over half of her kills in the opening frame, four of which in an 11-0 run almost immediately after the first serve of the match. Flynn posted four of her kills in the first set, all in the last seven Trinity points toward the 25-15 tally. For the remainder of the match, both Ellis and Flynn posted six-for-eight marks on the attack.
No. 4 Trinity Volleyball concludes the 2022 regular season this weekend in Seguin, Texas as it battles University of St. Thomas (Sat., 11 a.m.), Southwestern University (Sat., 3:30 p.m.), and host Texas Lutheran University (Sun., 12:15 p.m.).
The 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship will be played on the campus of Colorado College November 4-5. The Tigers are just one victory away from clinching the tournament's top seed.
