Michael Somerville's Four Goals Leads Trinity to 8-0 Win Over Dallas

Box Score

IRVING, Texas - Senior Michael Somerville (Ft. Worth, Texas / Arlington Heights) leads the Tiger offense with his first carrefour goal game in the 8-0 win over the University of Dallas. Somerville's four goals ties a single-game program record. The Men's Soccer team scored eight runs for the first time since October 19, 2018, when they defeated Schreiner University 8-1 in a conference matchup. The Tiger collect their first road win of the season and extend their win streak to four matches.

The Tigers scored six goals in the second half and took a season-high 46 shots while shutting out the Crusaders in nearly every offensive category. Senior goalkeeper Juan Carlos Vidales (Laredo, TX / IMG Academy) recorded his second shutout win of the season. 24 different Tigers logged minutes in tonight's big win. Somerville led the Tigers with eight shots taken with sophomore Hunter Cain (Katy, TX / Cinco Ranch) right behind him with five shots on the evening.

The Rundown

Trinity's Jack Eubank (Raleigh, NC / Needham Broughton) took the first shot of the evening within the first two minutes of the match but it was off target.

The Tigers caught a break as the first goal of the match was an own goal by the Crusaders to give Trinity a 1-0 lead just 11 minutes into the match. The TU offense continued to press and put up nine shots before finding the back of the net for their second goal of the night.

In the 23rd minute, senior Kyle Davis (Plano, TX / Liberty) found fellow senior Chen Adjei (Euless, TX / Trinity) who scored his third goal of the season to extend the Tiger goal to 2-0. Trinity took eight more shots before the half ended but could not find the back of the net. The Tiger defense shut the Crusaders down during the first half as they held Dallas to no shots.

To start the half, the Tigers took two corner kicks before adding their third goal of the night. Senior Fraser Burns (Dalry, Scotland / Garnock Academy) found Somerville for his first goal of the season. In the 55th minute, Burns and junior Joseph Kuri (San Antonio, TX / TMI Episcopal) teamed up to assist first-year Adam Knutson (Dripping Springs, Texas / Dripping Springs) and extend the Trinity lead to 4-0.

About 10 minutes later, Pieter Blank (The Hague, Netherlands / Dalton Voorburg) scored his first goal of the season thanks to a nice pass from Burns. Somerville then proceeded to score the Tiger's next three goals to ultimately make the score 8-0.
