The Rundown
Senior forward Molly Sheridan (St. Louis, Mo. / Kirkwood) took the first shot of the game but the SU keeper saved it. Just one minute later, sophomore Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford) found Stafford for the first goal of the night. It was not until the 20th minute of the match that Southwestern took their first and only shot of the first half.
Bosco found the back of the net in the 26th minute of the match to extend the Tiger lead to 2-0. Both the Tigers and Pirates struggled to get any offense going following the second goal of the match and the Tigers took a comfortable 2-0 lead into the half.
Rejuvenated, Trinity immediately found themselves on the attack and took a corner but unfortunately came away empty. A few moments later, Southwestern earned a corner kick of their own but the Tigers defended it well. Both teams then traded a shot a piece but neither was on frame.
With about 30 minutes left to play, Bosco found Stafford again to increase the Tiger lead to 3-0. First-year Erin Heath (Lake Jackson, Texas) shortly came onto the pitch as a reserve and immediately made an impact as she scored her second goal of the season to make the score 4-0 with just under 20 minutes to play. Khan later scored two unassisted goals to make the score 6-0 and put the match away as the time on the clock winded down.
