Men's Golf Holds on for Bohmann Memorial Victory at Vaaler Creek

BLANCO, Texas - Trinity University Men's Golf collected the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational title Tuesday afternoon with a two-round 579 (+3) for the event, 290 (+2) on the day at the Vaaler Creek Golf Course, the site of the 2022 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in April.

Day One Recap

Four Tigers finished in the top-10 individually in this year's Texas Lutheran University-hosted tournament, led by a pair of second-place two-round performances (144, E) from sophomore Jacob Mason (Westminster, Colo. / Holy Family) and senior Daniel Nunez (Los Angeles, Calif. / Loyola).

Tied for sixth overall were junior Dennis Butts (Houston, Texas / Stratford) and senior Zac Bunder (Rye, N.Y. / Rye) who both finished two shots over (146). Butts replicated his 73 from Monday with another on Tuesday, while Bunder's even 72 Monday was followed by a 74.

Entered as an individual for this week's competition, sophomore Luke Chuha (San Antonio, Texas / Cornerstone) posted a 71 (-1) for the sixth-best second-round tally in the 64-player field. First-year Neel Sandhu (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) finished as one of Trinity's four counted cards Tuesday with a one-over 73 as a solid rebound from his seven-over mark on Monday.

Overall, the Tigers took advantage of their scoring opportunities as Trinity logged three birdies on both of the par-fives on the front nine, the fourth and eighth, on the cards of Mason, Sandhu and Bunder. Nunez and Butts found their success in consistency, scoring 14 and 13 pars, respectively.

Trinity Men's Golf heads to Temple, Texas September 26 to take part in the UMHB Fall Intercollegiate at Sammons Park Golf Club. The 36-hole event will played over Monday and Tuesday of that week.

The Tigers then return to San Antonio October 10-11 to host their first 54-hole event of the 2022-23 campaign, the 2022 Alamo City Classic at The Quarry Golf Course.
