Box Score SAN ANTONIO - The No. 8/9 Women's Soccer team improves to (6-0-1, 2-0-1 SCAC) after blanking the University of St. Thomas in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match. Sophomore forward Michaela Bosco (Weatherford, Texas / Weatherford) scored the night's first goal on a rebound from a corner kick to give Trinity a 1-0 lead. The Tigers put 13 of their 35 shots on frame while holding St. Thomas to four total shots with just two of those being on frame. With tonight's win, the stout Tiger defense posted their fourth shutout victory of the season.
On the Prowl
The Tigers wasted no time putting shots up as they controlled the pitch for the majority of the match. The Trinity offense took 11 shots before UST settled for a shot that missed high.
It wasn't until the 28th minute that the Tigers finally broke the 0-0 tie with a goal. After putting pressure on the Celts defense, Trinity earned a corner. On the service, junior defender Josephine McCray (Fairway, KS / Shawnee Mission East) found Bosco waiting at the net who volleyed the ball in.
Trinity continued to control the ball for the remainder of the first half as St. Thomas was only able to get one more shot off before heading into the half.
The Celts came out of the half on the attack and put a few shots on frame. Trinity continued to fire in shots but could not find the back of the net. It seemed like the match was going to end 1-0 until Schneider made a run in the final minute and struck a ball from about 20 yards away to put the Tigers up 2-0 with 30 seconds left in the match. UST was unable to do anything with such little time remaining.
