CLAREMONT, Calif. – Trinity's 17th-ranked women and 21st-ranked men finished off a West Coast road trip by splitting a swimming & diving tri-meet against California Lutheran University and Pomona-Pitzer Colleges on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity's women defeated Cal Lutheran 211-85, while the men were also big winners over CLU 191-92. The Tiger women lost to ninth-ranked Pomona 195-105., while the men lost to the 16th-ranked Pomona men 179-116. Trinity won 11 individual events and one relay in today's action, with the Tiger men taking six of the individual wins to go along with the lone relay win of the day.
The Tigers swept both the men's and women's diving events as
Konstantine Partalas (San Antonio, Reagan) and
Gabi Fulk (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Horizon) won on both boards for the men's and women's teams. Partalas scored 260.00 points in the 1-meter competition, while also reaching 283.05 on the 3-meter board. Fulk finished with 241.65 on the high board and 220.40 on the low board.
Neely Burns (Phoenix, Ariz. / Thunderbird) was the top winner for Trinity on Saturday, taking individual wins in the 200 freestyle (1:57.75), the 200 breaststroke (2:23.25), and the 400 individual medley (4:25.02). The Tiger men's swimmers were led by
Matteo Lanzara (Moraga, Calif. / Campolindo) and his individual wins in both the 100 (52.06) and 200 backstroke (1:56.64) events.Â
Michael Kohl (Missouri City, Texas / Ridge Point) won the 100 butterfly and was also the leadoff of the winning 200 freestyle relay team. He was joined by
Nathaniel Early (Austin, Texas / Westwood),
Nolan Anthony (Missouri City, Texas / Missouri City), and
Caleb Manifold (Helotes, Texas / Homeschool) to post a winning time of 1:25.17.
Kendal Southwell (Rio Rancho, N.M. / Calvert Online Academy) rounds out the winners for the day, as he took top honors in the 100 breast with a time of 58.56 seconds.
