CLAREMONT, Calif. – The 17th-ranked Tiger women's swimming & diving team split its Saturday afternoon tri-meet on the West Coast, defeating California Lutheran University 211-85, but falling 195-105 to ninth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges.
Neely Burns (Phoenix, Ariz. / Thunderbird) and
Gabi Fulk (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Horizon) both won multiple events in the meet to lead the way for Trinity. Fulk swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, scoring 241.65 points on the high board, and posting a score of 220.40 on the low board. Burns won three individual events and helped the Tigers to a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay. She won the 200 freestyle in 1:57.75, as well as the 200 breaststroke in 2:23.25. Burns also took the top spot in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:25.02 on Saturday.
Alexis Radhakrishnan (Lexington, Ky. / Paul Laurence Dunbar) was the runner-up to Fulk on both boards on Saturday, scoring 203.50 in the 1-meter competition and 232.00 on the 3-meter board.
Emma Hagan (Overland Park, Kan. / Olathe East) was also a silver medalist in two events, finishing second in both the 50 free and the 100 free. She finished the 50 with a time of 24.43 seconds, while touching the pad in the 100 in 53.20 seconds. Hagan also helped two Tiger relay teams earn third-place finishes in today's meet.
The 400 medley relay team paired Hagan and Burns along with
Caroline Myers (Austin, Texas / Bowie) and
Julie Schwam (Portland, Ore. / David Douglas), finishing in a time of 4:03.03. Hagan and Myers were also a part of the third-place relay team in the 200 free relay, joined by
Juliana Wiehrdt (Waco, Texas / Midway) and
Josie Gillentine (Heath, Texas / Rockwall Heath) for a time of 1:39.72.
Myers was also a two-time individual bronze medalist in the 100 and 200 butterfly, finishing with times of 59.20 seconds in the 100, and 2:12.70 in the 200. Gillentine's time of 1:09.13 in the 100 breast also earned her a third-place finish.
Audrey Jacobson (Dallas, Texas / School for the Talent and Gifted) posted a time of 5:19.73 in the 500 free to join the group of individuals to finish in the top three on Saturday.
Schwam took fourth place in both the 100 (1:01.30) and 200 backstroke (2:14.57) events to round out her Saturday successes.
Erica Peterson (Lantana, Texas / Guyer) also finished fourth in both the 400 IM and the 1,000 free. She posted a time of 4:48.22 in the 400 IM and was Trinity's top finisher with a time of 11:06.02 in the 1,000.
Bethany Mueller (Buda, Texas / Hays) was fifth behind Schwam in both the 100 and 200 back events, trailing her teammate by less than a second in both. She finished the 100 back in 1:02.05, while coming in at 2:15.20 in the 200.
Alexana Heinrich (Lubbock, Texas / Lubbock) also earned a pair of fifth-place finishes in diving, posting scores of 166.20 (3m) and 154.30 (1m).
Sidney McCullough (Centennial, Colo. / Cherry Creek) was just over a second behind Gillentine in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:10.67 for fifth place in the event.
Elizabeth Molique (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Saguaro) had a time of 1:01.30 in the 100 fly to finish fifth.

"The women got off to a strong start for the second half of the season," said Head Coach
Cathleen Pruden. "We faced some tough competition, but gave it all we had today to race. The Tgiers had some great race awareness and are making good adjustments from earlier in the season."
