No. 22 Tiger Men's Soccer Heads To The Mountains To Battle Against Colorado

No. 22 Tiger Men's Soccer will be back on the road again, this time to Colorado Springs to take on the No. 19 Colorado College Tigers as they continue Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play.

The Tigers (9-1-2, 4-1 SCAC) now sit at the top of the SCAC standings after defeating Schreiner 3-1. The Tigers continued to show their dominance on the offensive side of the pitch as they found the back of the net three times on Saturday. Junior Michael Meese (Williamsburg, Virginia / Jamestown) got the scoring started with a goal and an assist from Louie Instrall (London, England / Hampton School). Instrall would summon his inner Pele, the man with the second-most assists in soccer history, when he found Pieter Blank (The Hague, The Netherlands / Dalton Voorburg) for another goal for the Tigers. Finally, it would be Chen Adjei (Euless, Texas / Trinity) to put the nail in the coffin on the Mountaineers when he took a Joseph Kuri (San Antonio, Texas / TMI Episcopal) pass and found the back of the net.

The Tigers now rank 23rd nationally in scoring offense (3.00) and 22nd in shots on goal (8.82). The Tigers are also 11th in assists per game (2.50).

United Soccer Coaches Rankings -

With the win on the weekend, the United Soccer Coaches have placed the Tigers to the number 22 spot nationally. The top two spots remain the same, and SCAC rival Texas Lutheran sits in the 21st spot and Colorado College jumps up to the 19th position.

Preview - Tigers vs Tigers

The Tigers will travel to Colorado to take on the Tigers of Colorado College. This will be a 1 versus 2 battle, in terms of SCAC rankings. The Tigers will play on Friday, October 20th at 4 PM (MT).

On the No. 19 Colorado College Tigers: Colorado holds a 9-2-1 (4-0 SCAC) record thus far in 2023. Colorado has been playing well recently, winning six of their last seven games. Their most recent loss was against the University of Texas-Dallas on September 17th. The Tiger defense will need to dig in to stop sophomore Oliver Ramirez, who has seven goals on the season. The Tiger offense will look to get the ball past goalkeeper Jasper Broad, who has a goals-against average of 0.93 this season. The Tigers are 22-3-3 against Colorado since 2009, splitting the two games played in 2022.

Looking Ahead - Back Home

After two consecutive games on the road, the Tigers will be back to Paul McGinlay Field to play against the University of St. Thomas on October 20th, and Centenary on October 29th.
