HOUSTON, Texas – The Trinity women's soccer team remained unbeaten in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play with Friday night's 1-0 road win at the University of St. Thomas.
The Tigers improve to 5-0-0 in conference this season and 8-4-2 overall, while the Celts drop to 1-4-5 overall and remain winless at 0-3-2 in SCAC. Trinity held a decisive 12-2 advantage in total shots, holding St. Thomas without a single shot in the second half.
The lone goal of the game came in the 16th minute as
Erin Heath (Lake Jackson, Texas / Homeschool) took a throw-in, then faked out her defender and turned toward goal. She dribbled in closer to the box, but cut back to her right foot from just over 20 yards out. Heath then smashed her shot top shelf over the keeper's head to put Trinity on the board. Her shot was just the second of the game for the Tigers and the first of her two shots overall in the game.
Goalkeeper
Lauryn Lewis (Carrollton, Texas / Creekview) notched her third shutout of the season, though neither of the shots she faced were on goal.
Trinity will finish off its weekend of play in the SCAC with a home game against Centenary College on Sunday, October 22, at Noon.
