Preview - Tigers Close Out Regular Season

The Tigers will close out their regular season against the University of St. Thomas and Centenary College. The Tigers will play against the Celts on Friday, October 27th at 8:00 PM and then come back on Sunday to play the Gents at 1:00 PM.

On the St. Thomas Celts: The Celts are 11-2-1 (4-2 SCAC) so far in 2023. The Celts won their most recent game against Centenary by a score of 8-1. The Celts have dropped their only matches against Southwestern and Colorado College. The Celts defeated the Tigers in both 2022 matchups by scores of 1-3 and 1-2. The Tigers are 2-5-1 all-time against the Celts since 2019. The Tiger defense will turn their heads to stop senior forward Taly Aleman, who ranks third in the country in goals per game (1.33).

On the Centenary Gents: The Gents hold a 4-7-3 record (1-4-1 SCAC) record in the 2023 season so far. The Gents claimed their conference win when they defeated the University of Dallas 3-1 on October 30th. The Tigers are 17-0 against the Gents since 2012, taking the 2022 matchup 11-0. The Tigers will try to prevent senior forward Rene Escobar from getting the ball in the box, as he leads the Gents with three goals on the season.

Keys To The Game

Offensive Prowess: The Tigers vs Celts match is shaping up to be a matchup of top offenses. Nationally, the Celts rank 8th in scoring offense while the Tigers rank 28th. The Tigers rank 23rd in shots on goal per game and the Celts rank 41st. There is potential for this match to be an offensive shootout, so it'll be up to the back lines and goalkeepers to keep the scoring low.

Looking Ahead - SCAC Tournament

After the conclusion of the weekend, the Tigers will look to compete in the SCAC Tournament in Houston from November 3rd through November 5th.
