A doubles sweep and a dominant showing with a shuffled singles lineup highlight the Tigers’ continued success against nationally ranked competition

SAN ANTONIO – No. 11 Trinity University Men's Tennis posted yet another victory over a nationally ranked team, this time taking down No. 37 Pacific University (OR), 8-1.

The Tigers (9-4) swept the early session, leading 3-0 to enter singles play. Senior Cal Hunter (Lafayette, Calif. Campolindo) and first-year Conor Kaczmarczyk (Aurora, Colo. / Regis Jesuit) secured the first doubles point with a dominant 8-2 win from line three. An 8-4 mark from line-two juniors Rob Chang (Aeia, Hawaii / 'Iolani School) and Dalton Locke (Humble, Texas / Kingwood) secured the doubles win for Trinity.

Senior Hao Nguyen (Sugar Land, Texas / Strake Jesuit) and sophomore Eric Liao (Taipei, Taiwan / Boca Prep [FL]) started their match down 3-0 but made a strong comeback to post an 8-5 win, finalizing the Tigers' doubles sweep.

Locke came away with the clincher, 6-3, 6-3, in the sixth line after first-year Aashish Dhanani (Austin, Texas / Westwood) set the table with a 6-1, 6-3 decision in line five. Chang continued the unanswered start with another straight-sets victory on back-to-back 6-2 marks in line three.

The Tigers then split two third-set matchups as senior Cameron Goldstein (Dallas, Texas / Episcopal) came away with a 10-8 superbreaker fourth-line tally after the first line fell to the Boxers. First-year Rafa Candelas Ruiz (Zacatecas, Mexico / American [ESP]) finished it off in line two, 7-5, 6-4.
