No. 12 Tiger Men's Basketball heads to the metroplex to take on Austin College and the University of Dallas.

Last Time

The Tigers (18-1) collected back-to-back wins, including an overtime thriller against Texas Lutheran and Southwestern last weekend. The Tigers were led by freshman Christian Green (San Antonio, Texas / Veterans Memorial) with 32 total points and 14 total boards. Junior Braxton Barry (Houston, Texas / Westbury Christian) collected his first double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds against Southwestern.

Preview - Road to the Metroplex

The Tigers will travel to Sherman to play Austin College on Friday, January 26th at 5:30 PM, and play against the University of Dallas on Saturday, January 27th at 4:00 PM.

On the Austin Roos: The Roos are 8-10 (4-6 SCAC) so far this season. Playing a team twice has not been uncommon for Austin College this season as the Tigers will be the seventh team to play twice against the Roos. Austin College has beaten teams on the second go-around all but twice this season, which makes the Roos 4-2 in second-chance matchups this season. Austin is led by Kidus Getenet who is averaging 13.4 points per game this season but was held to just 4 points last time out. The Tigers are now 30-6 against Austin all-time after defeating them 89-54 earlier in the season.

On the Dallas Crusaders: Dallas is 7-11 (4-6 SCAC) this season. The Crusaders have been a hot and cold team this season, defeating nationally-ranked St. Thomas twice but falling to Centenary in both games this season. Just like earlier in the season, the Crusaders are heavily reliant on their starters who almost all carry over 30 minutes per game. However, the Tigers held all five starters to under 10 points in their last matchup. The Tigers are now 34-10 against Dallas and hold a six-game winning streak.

Keys to the Game

In the Paint Like Picasso: The Tigers have combined for 95 total points in the paint over their last two games. With that being over 50 percent of their total points, look for teams to hunker down and try to shut down the Tiger offense inside. That being said, look for the three-point presence of Dean Balo (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) and Tanner Brown (San Antonio, Texas / Brandeis) to aid the Tigers in putting up big numbers.

Looking Ahead - Big Cat Party

The Tigers will take on Schreiner on the road on Friday, February 6th at 5:30 PM and will then be back at home against Colorado College on Sunday, February 11th at noon.
