The Tigers (8-0-2) continued their SCAC winning run with two hard fought wins over McMurry and Concordia.
Hunter Cain (Katy, Texas / Cinco Ranch) scored twice over the weekend, while
Adam Knutson (Dripping Springs, Texas) and
Luke Mayfield (Dallas, Texas JJ Pearce) each recorded goals. With eight goals in a row, Cain is looking to break the record of consecutive games scored in, standing at nine.Â

Cain scored a goal in each game last weekend, leading 24th-ranked Trinity to a pair of SCAC wins over McMurry and Concordia. Cain has now scored in eight consecutive games for the Tigers and leads the team and SCAC with a career-best nine goals scored. Cain put the Tigers up 2-0 against McMurry with his second-half score to lock down Friday's home win, then he scored the game-winner in a 2-1 win at Concordia on Sunday night. On the year, Cain now is tied for the SCAC lead with 18 points on and conference best nine goals this year.

United Soccer Coaches National Ranking - Tigers Jump 1 Spot to 23

In the national poll by the United Soccer Coaches, the Tigers are ranked 23rd. This is the second time this season that Trinity has been placed into the national rankings. The University of Mary Washington is ranked first with Kenyon College in second. SCAC rival Colorado is ranked fifth and this week's opponent Southwestern is 18th.

The Tigers will start the weekend on Friday, October 11th at 5:00 PM against Texas Lutheran. After a day of rest, Trinity will play against Southwestern on Sunday at 12:00 PM
On the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs: The Bulldogs bring a 5-0-3 record into this weekend's matchup with the Tigers. Texas Lutheran holds wins over UMHB, Hardin Simmons and UT Dallas, whilst holding Southwestern to a 0-0 tie in the SCAC earlier this year. The Bulldogs retain All-American Jack Manke, who scored in last year's regular season game against the Tigers. Last time out, the Bulldogs overcame the Tigers in a 2-0 victory in Seguin, TX. Historically, the Tigers hold a 35-1-7 record against the Bulldogs.

On the No. 18 Southwestern Pirates: The Pirates have started the 2024 season in form, with a record of 7-0-2. With wins over Methodist and Hendrix, the Pirates started the year smoothly whilst the Tigers lagged behind. The Tigers will look to stop Senior midfielder Michael Grimm, who leads the pirates in points (10) with four goals and two assists. In their last match in 2023, the Tigers blanked the Pirates 3-0 in the semi-finals of the SCAC tournament, bringing their all time record to 40-6-1 against the Pirates.
