Box Score Dallas - The Trinity men's soccer team extended their winning streak to eleven with a 6-0 victory over University of Dallas on Friday evening.
The Tigers (11-0-2) scored three goals in both halves while recording their seventh shutout of the season to cap off a strong performance on both sides of the ball. This was Trinity's 24th all-time win against the Crusaders, with this game coming as their eight consecutive win this fixture.
The Rundown
Trinity started the game on the front foot and created a number of good chances in the early stages. It took them just 23 minutes to break the deadlock after a great cross from Will Powell (London, England / Beth's Grammar School) teed up Adam Knutson (Dripping Springs, Texas / Dripping Springs) who headed home his 11th goal of the season at the back post. Powell was the provider once again recording his seventh assist of the season as he laid the ball off to Louis Instrall (London, England / Hampton School) at the top of the box, who made no mistake and slotted the ball into the top left corner. Just seven minutes later Instrall whipped in a delightful ball which was finished at the front post by Luke Mayfield (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce) to give Trinity the 3-0 lead at the half.
The domination continued into the second half. Hungry for their fourth goal of the game, graduate senior JonConnor Rule (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) headed the ball across the line off of a corner kick routine straight off the training ground. That marks the captain's first goal of the season and his 8th in his whole career at Trinity. Ten minutes later, the Tigers were back in the opposition's box. A well worked team move resulted with Joey Perryman (Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound) one-vs-one with the Crusaders' goalkeeper and ended with the ball in the back of the net. Eager to increase the goal tally even further, the Tigers' attacks kept on coming. Cade Dougan (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal) already on two assists for the game, was next up on the score sheet and it took him just three minutes to hammer home Trinity's sixth of the game with his weak foot.
