The Rundown

Centre jumped out to an early 7-0 lead after a drive that featured a 57-yard completion, putting the Colonels inside the 10-yard line. However, the Tigers responded with a long and hard-fought 12-play drive that began at their own 22-yard line. During this drive, Taylor made two catches for a total of 11 yards. Huettel capped it off with a 46-yard field goal that split the uprights.

After the defense stopped the Colonels and forced a punt, the Tigers embarked on another long drive. It began with a powerful 12-yard run by Hutchison. Later in the drive, Trinity made another explosive play, but a crucial holding penalty set them back. Huettel then kicked his second field goal of the game, cutting the Colonel lead to one point. However, Centre responded immediately with a touchdown on their next drive, increasing their lead to 14-6. After stopping the Tigers on their following possession, Centre drove down the field again and kicked a field goal to extend their lead to double digits. The clock ran out on Trinity, and the two teams went into the locker room with Centre leading 17-6.

The third quarter was a defensive battle, with both teams held scoreless during the period. However, Centre was driving at the end of the third quarter and ended up on the Trinity 5-yard line. Just seconds later, the home team scored again, increasing their lead to 24-6. On the next drive, Ryan Back (Austin, Texas / Vandergrift) started with a 15-yard completion to Sebastian Trevino (China Spring, Texas / China Spring). The Tigers steadily advanced down the field, and on 1st and goal from the Centre 8-yard line, Back found Will Taylor in the back of the end zone for the Trinity touchdown. Unfortunately, for the rest of the game, the Colonels managed to hold the Tigers scoreless and ultimately won the game.
