Trinity Swimming & Diving Teams Leading After First Day at Tiger Invite

SAN ANTONIO – Trinity's 16th-ranked women and 24th-ranked men are both in the lead after the first of three days at the Tiger Invitational Swimming & Diving Meet on Friday.

The Tiger women lead with 447 points after day one, which is more than double the 215 points scored by Colorado State University-Pueblo in second place. Southwestern University (TX) is third with 159 points, followed by Loyola University-New Orleans (LA) with 139 points, and the University of Texas-Permian Basin in fifth with 94 points.

Trinity's men have also built a big lead, though not quite as large a gap as the women's team. Trinity has 387 points to lead over UTPB with 314 points in second place, followed by Loyola in third with 221 points. Southwestern is fourth with 137 points and the University of St. Thomas (TX) is fifth on the men's side with 42 points scored.

There were three individual events per gender in today's swim finals, while each team also had two relay races, and the Tiger divers also competed this afternoon. The Tigers brought home five individual wins out of seven events, as well as winning three of the four relays. There were also six performances that ranked in the top 10 all-time at Trinity.
