Trinity University Football plays in their final home game of the regular season against Southwestern.

The Tigers (6-2, 4-1 SAA) defeated Hendrix College 26-7 on the road. Tyler Huettel (McKinney, Texas / McKinney) tied the Trinity school record with a career-high four field goals made in the game. One of those field goals was a season-best 49-yard bomb that is tied for the fifth-longest in school history, and Huettel is now the only player in school history with three career field goals of 49 or more yards. Tiger quarterback Ryan Back (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) completed 19-of-24 passes for 199 yards and a career-high 79.2% completion rate. His top target was BJ Rainey (Cedar Hill, Texas / Cedar Hill), who finished with career-highs of eight receptions and 76 yards receiving. John Kohl McAdams (New Berlin, Texas / McCallie School) finished with six tackles, while Delvin Gantt (Burton, Texas / Burton) collected his second interception of the year to go with two pass breakups.

Preview - Pirates In The 210

Trinity will play in their final home game against Southwestern on Saturday, November 9th with a 1:00 PM kickoff.

On the Southwestern Pirates: The Pirates are currently 4-4 (2-4 SCAC). They opened the season with two wins over McMurry and the University of Puget Sound before dropping their next two games to Hendrix and Berry. In their most recent game, the Pirates defeated Sewanee 35-10. Their offense is balanced, averaging around 184 yards both in the air and on the ground per game. However, they have been more effective on the ground, with 19 rushing touchdowns compared to 8 passing touchdowns. Sophomore running back Leroy Rodriguez leads Southwestern's offense with 693 rushing yards, while Jaylen Spriggs is their go-to player near the end zone, leading the team with eight rushing touchdowns. If the Tigers' defense can stop the Pirates' ground game, they will be well-positioned to limit their scoring.

On defense, linebacker Caleb Harmon is a standout, leading the team with 63 total tackles and 11.5 tackles for loss, and ranking second in sacks with 3.5. Defensive back DJ James is Southwestern's top cover corner, with 13 pass breakups this season. Last season, the Tigers dominated the Pirates with a 57-7 victory and hold a 16-12-2 all-time record against them.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will head to Jackson, Mississippi to take on Millsaps on November 16th.
