No. 23 Tiger Men's Basketball hoops against Schreiner and Rochester (NY) this week.
The Tigers (6-2) split their games last weekend at the Leslie Robinson Holiday Classic. Trinity secured a narrow 72-69 victory over Illinois College on opening night but fell to nationally-ranked Wisconsin Lutheran, 79-70, in their second matchup.
Jacob Millhouse (Plano, Texas / Independence) delivered a strong performance, scoring 28 points while shooting 8-of-12 from the field and 5-of-8 from three-point range.
Jacob Harvey (Huffman, Texas / Hargrave) contributed a total of 31 points over the two games, and
Christian Green (San Antonio, Texas / Veterans Memorial) added 28 points. The Tigers forced 44 turnovers across the two contests. They are now ranked 38th nationally in turnovers forced per game, averaging 17.13.
Preview - New Years Battles
The Tigers will open Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play on New Year's Eve with a matchup against Schreiner at 4:00 PM in Kerrville. Their first game of 2025 will feature a home contest against Rochester (NY) at 1:00 PM on January 4th. Trinity will then face Schreiner again on Monday, January 6th, at 7:30 PM in San Antonio.
On the Schreiner Mountaineers: Schreiner is off to a 7-2 start this season, with notable wins over Hardin-Simmons, Occidental, and Texas-Dallas. However, the Mountaineers have also suffered two losses, a high-scoring 116-100 defeat to Redlands and a 79-66 defeat against Whitworth. Schreiner is ranked 25th nationally in scoring, averaging 87.1 points per game. However, their defense has struggled, allowing opponents to score 81.6 points per game. The Mountaineers will look to Dylan Mackey and Kamden Ross to lead the way. Mackey is averaging 18.0 points and 5.8 assists per game, while Ross is averaging 23.9 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. Last season, the Tigers won both matchups against Schreiner and hold a 24-14 all-time record in the series.
On the Rochester Yellow Jackets: Rochester will bring a 6-4 record into Calgaard Gymnasium. After a narrow 79-76 loss to Muskingum in their season opener, the Yellow Jackets went on a five-game winning streak. However, they have struggled recently, going 1-3 in their last four games, including consecutive losses to Tufts and Bates in their most recent matchups. Rochester's offense ranks in the top 50 nationally in three-point shooting (37.4%). Senior forward Logan Jagodzinski leads the team, averaging 16.5 points per game while shooting a red-hot 50.4% from the field and 40.5% from beyond the arc. Trinity and Rochester have met just once before, in 2022, when the Yellow Jackets claimed a 78-63 victory.

The Tigers will take on McMurry and Concordia (TX) at home on January 10th and 12th.
