No. 6 Tiger Men's Basketball closes out their regular season against St. Thomas and Centenary.

The Tigers (22-1) were named the number one seed after their two victories over Schreiner and Colorado College. The Tigers were led by freshman Christian Green (San Antonio, Texas / Veterans Memorial) and senior Tanner Brown (San Antonio, Texas / Brandeis). Green would put in 33 total points while Brown would score 29 and a heroic game-winner against Colorado. With their two wins, the Tigers bumped up two spots to be sixth-ranked, nationally.

Preview - Conference Close Out

The Tigers hit the road in both of their final regular season games. The Tigers will play against St. Thomas on Friday, February 16th at 5:30 PM, and then Centenary College on Sunday, February 18th at noon.

On the St. Thomas Celts: The Celts are 18-5 (10-4 SCAC) this season. The Celts are the only blemish on the Tigers' record as they defeated Trinity 66-65 on January 12th. Since then, St. Thomas has gone 4-3 in their next seven games. The Celts have struggled in the second round of conference, including dropping a game to one-win Southwestern. Still, the Celts are a prolific shooting offense that can cause problems if they get hot. Scoring 17.3 points per game, Calvin Williams IV leads the Celts this season. Williams has used his elite dribbling to get to easy buckets at the rack but can also land shots from deep. The Tigers are now 2-8 against the Celts all time.

On the Centenary Gents: Centenary is 14-9 (9-5 SCAC) as the season comes to a close. The Gents have been hot, winning their last five games, four against SCAC tournament teams. However, last time out, the Gents were defeated by Trinity by 10. Centenary will look to senior forward Seth Thomas to lead the offense. Averaging 16.4 points per game, the stretch four can score in a variety of ways. The Tigers kept him quiet last game, so Thomas will look to come back with a vengeance. All time, the Tigers are 14-12 against the Gents.

Keys To The Game

Big Time Players: Although the Tigers have already clinched the top seed, they still have to face two tough opponents. The Tigers will want to get shooters like Jacob Harvey (Huffman, Texas / Hargrave) and Dean Balo (Dallas, Texas / JJ Pearce), along with Brown and Green, hot again just in time for tournament play. Look for the Tigers to run sets to get them open shots and shots in transition to get the most in-game looks as they look to capture an SCAC title.

Looking Ahead - SCAC Tournament

The Tigers will receive the one seed and a first-round bye in the SCAC Tournament starting on Friday, February 23rd.
