SAN ANTONIO – The 14th-ranked Tiger women's tennis team finished off its weekend at home with a 9-0 shutout win over Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity improved to 4-0 this season, while the Cowgirls fell to 1-3 on the year. The Tigers won 8-1 over Concordia University (TX) last night to open the weekend's action.
Ruth Hill (Abilene, Texas / Abilene) and
Olivia Kim (Phoenix, Ariz. / Desert Mountain) got the scoring for the match underway at line one doubles, winning 8-1 to set the table for the eventual shutout.
Cate Cushing (Colleyville, Texas / Heritage) and
Trinity Levy (Camarillo, Calif. / Weil Tennis Academy) followed with an 8-4 win at line two to make it a 2-0 match score, then
Trinity Hatchett (Pearland, Texas / Dawson) and
Brooke Belitz (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Notre Dame Prep) finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at line three.
The momentum carried over easily into singles and Hill was once again the first to finish at line one, winning 6-1, 6-1.
Ellie Hughes (Austin, Texas / Vandegrift) saw her first action of the day at the second line of singles and all she did was clinch the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory.
Doubles partners Cushing and Levy were the next two singles matches to finish up, with Cushing winning 6-1, 6-0 at line four, and Levy taking a 6-1, 6-2 third-line victory.
Rebecca Stepleman (Atlanta, Ga. / Georgia Connections Academy) won 6-2, 6-1 at the sixth line, then
Elodie Richard (Allen, Texas / Allen) preserved the sweep with her 7-5, 6-4 win at line five.

Trinity will not play again until Sunday, March 3, though the Tigers will still be at home to face the University of Texas-Dallas at 2:00 p.m.
