SAN ANTONIO - No. 22 Tiger Baseball brings out the brooms and crushes Babson 16-6 for series sweep.
Â
The Tigers (3-0) were on the hunt on Sunday.
Jackson Teer (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) went seven strong innings, only giving up one hit and setting a new career-high with 14 strikeouts.
Jack Peterson (Round Rock, Texas / Round Rock) cranked a pair of home runs and collected four RBIs along the way.
Alex Monson (Houston, Texas / Memorial) also had a day at the plate, going 2-3 and driving in four. As a team, the Tigers would mash for a total of 16 hits with seven of those being for extra bases.Â

The Rundown
Â
You know that you are in trouble when you see number 40 on the hill for the Tigers. Teer was shoving from the first pitch. Three up three down, all strikeouts. What does the offense do when you have a pitcher like that on the mound? Score runs. That's exactly what Trinity did.
Ty Preston (Pearland, Texas / Pearland) started the day for the Tigers with a dribbler up the middle that he would leg out.
Nicholas Lazzara (Carrollton, Texas / Jesuit College Prep) hit a high slice down the left field line for a ground rule double and
Cristian Holloway (Brownsville, Texas / Veterans Memorial) followed that up with a swinging bunt that led him to first with his extreme hustle. In his first at bat as a Tiger, Monson took an outside heater the opposite way that found its way to the wall for a three-RBI double and the Tiger fans were on their feet.Â
Â
Teer continued to do it himself as he struck out the side AGAIN in the second and then sat down the Beavers in order in the third. To give him more cushion, Holloway pulled a single to left to plate another and Tigers were up 4-0. Babson did not get their first hit of the game until the top of the fourth but they would strand him as Teer picked up his eighth "K" of the game. Then, in the bottom of the fifth, the Tigers scored another on a wild pitch and then again on an RBI ground out by
Max Milligan (Amarillo, Texas / Amarillo) to make it 6-0 for the home team. Babson went back to hit in the top of the inning and you blinked just to see that the Tigers were back up to bat.
Colt Harris (Katy, Texas / Houston Christian) told the pitcher to watch his lips as he smoked a liner to center that resulted in an RBI inside-the-parker because of a misplay by Babson, bringing the score to 8-0. In the very next at bat, it was a left-on-left match up for
Jack Peterson, which normally would be in favor of the pitcher but not this time. Peterson yanked a heater and back, back, back it goes… GONE! Tigers go up 9-0 in the fifth. After all that running around the bases that the hitters did, Teer wanted to give them a rest. Teer did it all himself with two strikeouts and an assisted out brought TU back to the dish.Â
Â
Football season ended a few months ago, but the Tigers were determined to put up a similar score. Holloway walked for the first run and Monson drove in the next for
Khalfani Coney (Los Angeles, California / Crossroads School) to bring in two more. Just when the crowd took their next breath, Peterson jacked a 2-0 fastball and…. ADIOS PELOTA! The Tigers put up three more to go up 16-0. Babson tried to battle back by scoring one in the eighth and five in the ninth but the Trinity lead was too great and they'd pick up the win 16-6.Â
