KERRVILLE, Texas – The 14th-ranked Tiger baseball team was shut out in a 4-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference road loss to Schreiner University on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity fell to 12-7 overall with the loss and are now 3-2 in SCAC play, while Schreiner improved to 7-15 overall and 2-2 in conference. The Tigers had won seven straight games against the Mountaineers, dating back to the final regular season meeting in 2021.
The game was a pitcher's duel most of the way as Schreiner's run in the bottom of the first was the only run scored by either team through the first six innings. The Mountaineers added three insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh to account for the final score. The Tigers managed just two hits in the game, got caught stealing three times, and never had a runner reach third base.
Jackson Teer (San Antonio, Texas / Johnson) fell to 3-1 on the season, despite allowing just one run on four hits over 4.0 innings, and striking out five batters.
Will Hellings (Summit, N.J. / Summit) had three strikeouts over the final 4.0 innings to finish out the game for the Tigers.
Kai Tinker (Simi Valley, Calif. / Grace Brethren) had a two-out single to break up the no-hitter in the fifth inning, then
Cristian Holloway (Brownsville, Texas / Veterans Memorial) had a leadoff single in the seventh for Trinity's only other hit.
