Tiger Men's Soccer Crusades To Belton

Tiger Men's Soccer hits the road for the first time this season to play the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor.
 
The Tigers (4-0-2) put on an offensive clinic last weekend, scoring 10 goals while conceding none. Hunter Cain (Katy, Texas / Cinco Ranch) and Joey Perryman (Flower Mound, Texas / Flower Mound) tallied two goals on the weekend. Eight different Tigers scored last weekend and nine different players had assists. As a team, Trinity ranks fifth in goal differential (+20), 6th in points per game (11.17), and 2nd in total assists (23). Adam Knutson (Dripping Springs, Texas / Dripping Springs) is ranked 5th nationally in shots per game (5.33) and Will Powell (London, England / Beth Grammar School) is 3rd in assists (5). 
 
SCAC Defensive Player of the Week - Cameron Smith 
 
For the first time in his career, sophomore Cameron Smith (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands / Cayman Prep) has been selected as the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week.
 
From the SCAC Press Release:
 
Smith and the Tiger defense were outstanding last week, posting a pair of shutout wins over Cal Lutheran and Howard Payne at home last Friday and Sunday. Anchored by Smith's play, Trinity allowed just seven total shots over two fixtures, including just two on target to secure two wins and lift the Tigers to a 4-0-2 record to start the season. In addition to his defensive prowess the limited opponents in the offensive third, Smith also scored the game-winning goal in the win over Cal Lutheran and added an assist in the win over Howard Payne.
 
Preview - Hit The Road, Jack
 
The Tigers will head to Belton, Texas to take on UMHB on Friday, September 20th at 7:30 PM. 
 
On the UMHB Crusaders: The Cru is off to a countdown 3-2-1 start. UMHB is on a two game winning streak after beating Austin College 2-1 and McMurry 3-0. In their other SCAC battle against Texas Lutheran, the Crusaders lost 2-1. Junior forward Xjavier Martinez leads the Crusaders offensively with two goals this season. However, the UMHB offense has been sparse this season. Last time out, Trinity dominated Mary Hardin-Baylor 6-1, scoring four goals in the first half. The all time record for the Tigers against UMHB is 8-4.
 
Looking Ahead - SCAC Opener
 
Trinity will be back at Paul McGinlay Field to host Schreiner on September 28th to start SCAC play.
