The Tigers (3-0-2) added two shutouts to their total this season. Trinity defeated UTD 1-0 and then exploded for a 7-0 victory against Howard Payne.
Alex Doran (Boerne, Texas / Geneva School of Boerne) had an eventful weekend, scoring the first goal of her career and winning the match for the Tigers against UTD.
Bri Werner (Woodbine, Maryland / Glenelg) tacked on her third and fourth goal of the season against Howard Payne. As a team, the Tigers are ranked 1st nationally in goals against average (0.00), save percentage (1.000), and shutout percentage (1.000).

Daryan Willyard (Austin, Texas / Lake Travis) has been selected as the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week.Â

Willyard led a Trinity defense that recorded two shutouts in a pair of wins last week, defeating Texas-Dallas, 1-0, and Howard Payne, 7-0, at home. The Tiger defense, anchored by Willyard, allowed just five shots over the two fixtures, including just two shots on target. Trinity and Willyard have now opened the season with five straight shutouts, allowing just 25 total shots and seven on goal.

The Tigers will head to Newport News, Virginia to face Christopher Newport on Friday, September 20th at 5:00 PM (ET). Then, Trinity will go to Virginia Beach to play against Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday, September 22nd at 11:00 AM (ET).Â

On the No. 5 Christopher Newport Captains: The Captains are 4-0-1 so far in 2024. After starting their season with a 0-0 tie against Virginia Wesleyan, Christopher Newport won four-straight, including a 1-0 win against nationally-ranked Emory. Defensively, the Captains have only conceded one goal all season. Offensively, junior midfielder Hanna Heaton leads CNU with three goals and an assist this season. The last time that the two teams met on the field in 2022, the Tigers suffered a narrow 1-0 loss. All time, Trinity is 1-4 against Christopher Newport.

On the Virginia Wesleyan Marlins: Virginia Wesleyan has gotten off to a slow start with an 0-2-2 record this season. However, their two losses have come by only one goal. The Marlins have tied with Christopher Newport and Mary Washington, and lost to Ohio Northern and UT Dallas. Forward Alexis Manfredi and Emma Shuey are the lone goal scorers for the Marlins this season. In their only match against each other in 2017, Trinity toppled the Marlins 2-1.
