GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - No. 15 Tiger Volleyball drops final weekend match to No. 23 Southwestern.

The Tigers (6-5, 1-1 SCAC) lost to their rival in four sets.
Mackenzie Logan (Calgary, Canada / Bishop Carroll) led Trinity with 13 total kills.
Reagan Whatley (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands) also had a solid performance, totaling eight kills on 17 total attempts (.412).
Jenna Rodriguez (San Antonio, Texas / Antonian) was the Tigers leading defensive player with 21 digs. As a team, the Tigers had 9 total blocks and 76 digs. With the loss, Trinity is now 61-19 all-time against Southwestern.Â

The Rundown

Trinity started strong, taking an 8-6 lead, but the Pirates quickly responded with a three-point run to take the lead themselves. Southwestern then surged ahead with an 8-1 run, extending their advantage to seven points. Trinity fought hard, but the Pirates finished strong, scoring the last five points to win the first set 25-15.

The second set was much more competitive, with the teams trading points back and forth. Trinity managed a three-point run to take a 6-5 lead, but the game remained close. Southwestern pulled ahead 12-10 midway through the set. Although Trinity tied it multiple times, they couldn't regain the lead, and Southwestern won the second set 25-22.

In the third set, it looked like Southwestern would take control after jumping to a 5-2 lead. However, a kill from
Courtney Pope (New Braunfels, Texas / Canyon) sparked an impressive 8-1 run for Trinity. From that point on, the momentum shifted, and Rodriguez served for the final four points as the Tigers closed out the set, winning 25-18 with
Taylor Starr (Southlake, Texas / Carroll) scoring the last point.

Despite losing the third set, Southwestern came out strong in the fourth, executing big runs to secure a 25-20 victory.
