Tiger Men's Soccer To Face The 'Neers At The Paul

Trinity University Men's Soccer is back at Paul McGinlay Field against Schreiner this weekend.

The Tigers (5-0-2) picked up another win last weekend. With a 3-1 victory over UMHB, the Tigers extended their winning streak to five. Hunter Cain (Katy, Texas / Cinco Ranch) tacked on his fifth goal of the season. This marks the fifth game in a row that Cain has scored. Luke Chander (Glasnow, Scotland / Balfron) and Louis Instrall (London, England / Hampton School) also put in goals during the match. As a team, the Tigers rank 3rd nationally in assists per game (3.71), fifth in corner kicks per game (8.57), sixth in total assists (26), seventh in scoring offense (3.57), and ninth in total points (76).

SCAC Defensive Player of the Week - Luke Chandler

For the first time in his career, Luke Chandler has been selected as the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week.

From the SCAC Press Release:

Playing all 90 minutes in Trinity's impressive 3-1 road win at UMHB last Friday, Chandler anchored the Tigers defense that has now allowed just one goal in its current five-game winning streak. Chandler also chipped in offensively, scoring the game-winning goal in the 64th minute.

Preview - No Fear Against The Neers

The Tigers will be at home against Schreiner on Saturday, September 28th at 7:30 PM.

On the Schreiner Mountaineers: Schreiner is 1-5 so far on the season, picking up their lone win against Howard Payne earlier this month. Schreiner does have the ability to score the ball, as they have only been shutout once this season. However, the Mountaineers have struggled defensively. Schreiner is giving up 2.50 goals per game this season and goal keepers only have a .706 save percentage. The Mountaineers also nationally rank in the bottom quartile for goal differential (-7). Last time out, Schreiner got an early lead on the Tigers but the squad rallied back for a 3-1 victory. All time, Trinity is 26-0-1 against the Mountaineers.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will continue conference play against McMurry on Friday, October 4th.
