Trinity Women's Soccer Begins SAA Journey In Georgia

Tigers Begin SAA Conference Journey in Georgia

The Tigers had one game this past weekend, traveling to Belton, TX to face off against the University of Mary-Hardin Baylor. Unfortunately, the match resulted in a 1-1 draw against the Crusaders.

SAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Alex Doran

Sophomore Alex Doran has been selected as the SAA Offensive Player of the Week.

From the SAA Player Release:

Doran led the Trinity women's soccer team to a 1-1 road draw against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday evening. After UMHB broke a scoreless tie with a 70th- minute score that threatened to hand Trinity a loss, Doran rallied the team with a goal in the 87th minute to secure the tie game. With her score, Doran is now tied for the team lead with seven goals in nine games for the Tigers this season.

SAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kylie Harris

Sophomore Kylie Harris has been selected as the SAA Defensive Player of the Week.

From the SAA Player Release:

Harris led Trinity's women's soccer team to a 1-1 draw on the road against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday. Harris played all 90 minutes for the Tigers in the team's only game this week, yielding just five total shots and only two on-target attempts. Harris and the Trinity defense have allowed just one goal or fewer in all but one game this season

Preview - Back at the Paul

The Tigers are taking to the skies for the first time this season as they travel to Georgia for a pair of conference matchups. Play kicks off on Friday, October 3, at 5:00 PM against Oglethorpe University, followed by a Sunday showdown with Berry University on October 5 at 1:30 PM. These contests mark the official start of Southern Athletic Association (SAA) conference play for the Tigers in their new league home.

On the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels: The Tigers last faced Oglethorpe in 2010, but the history between the programs runs deep. Over 19 all-time meetings, the Tigers have won every single contest. With nearly 15 years since their last matchup, this meeting offers the Tigers both the chance to extend their legacy and to set the tone in their first SAA appearance. Expect the Tigers to come out strong, eager to make an immediate statement in their new conference.

On the Berry Vikings: Berry presents a less familiar challenge. The Tigers have met the Vikings only twice, falling 1-2 in their first meeting back in 1999, before bouncing back with a decisive 4-0 victory in 2014. While history between the programs is limited, the stakes are high: the Tigers will be aiming not only for a win but also to establish themselves as a team the entire SAA should take seriously, setting a precedent that they are a winning program.

Looking Ahead

The Tigers will be returning home the following weekend for a one game weekend on the Paul against Centre University on Saturday, October 11, at 11:00 AM for their third SAA matchup.
